He has undertaken surveys at a wide variety of sites in Ireland and abroad since 2002, including at such high-profile places as the Hill of Tara (Co. Meath), Dún Ailinne (Co. Kildare), Glendalough (Co. Wicklow) and Drumanagh (Co. Dublin). He was Assistant Project Director on The Discovery Programme’s ‘Late Iron Age and ‘Roman’ Ireland’ project (2011–2015), and in 2015 was appointed Principal Surveyor on the Monastic Ireland Project, a joint initiative between The Discovery Programme and Trinity College Dublin. In 2017, he directed the Fieldschool’s survey at Knockloon Hill (Co. Clare), which has revealed a range of archaeological monuments in the vicinity of a large prehistoric burial mound.
