Dr Billy Mag Fhloinn is a lecturer in Irish Studies at the University of Limerick. One of his primary interests is in the field of experimental archaeology, with particular focus on prehistoric metalworking. Since 2004, he has been a member of Umha Aois, an ongoing project that aims to explore Irish and European copper alloy casting in the prehistoric period, through collaboration with archaeologists, artists and artisans. He gives regular demonstrations and workshops in bronze casting, and has worked with museums, heritage institutions and most recently, the UCD Centre for Experimental Archaeology. He also has a keen interest in the music of the prehistoric period, and plays replica Bronze Age and Iron Age instruments. You can find out more about Billy's research interests here
